The BREW™ Developer Awards will recognize BREW applications in six different categories:
Best Productivity/M-Commerce Application:
Nominees in this category are BREW applications designed to enhance end-user productivity in their personal or professional lives or provide an innovative application for end-users to make a wireless purchase. Ease of use, an easily navigable user interface, relevance/usefulness of content or an m-commerce application for personal or business use, originality and convergence (an application that could help or encourage end users to combine productivity/personal information management functions from multiple handheld devices into one), are among the criteria that will be considered in judging the nominees.
This is the category for you if your application is an m-commerce, travel information, personal information management or personal or enterprise productivity-oriented tool or service.
Best Entertainment Application:
Nominees in this category are BREW applications created to entertain end users via sound, graphics, images or interactivity with the device. Quality of music and song availability or quality of graphics and animation, user interface, ease of use and easy navigation, originality and brand recognition, are among the criteria that will be considered in judging the nominees.
This is the category for you if your application provides ring tones or music or provides entertainment-oriented content such as avatars, cartoons, comics, graphics and icons, screen savers or wall paper. (Games are not included in this category.)
Best Game Application:
Nominees in this category are BREW applications created so end users can play games, including single-user or multiplayer games, classic arcade games, action games, adventure games, role-playing games, sports games, card/casino games, trivia games, other game genres or games designed to help promote a brand or franchise. Innovative design, ease of use, quality of graphics or sound or animation, multiplayer capability, originality, level of fun and "addictiveness," and brand recognition are among the criteria that will be considered in judging the nominees.
This is the category for you if, well, your application is a game!
Best Location-Based Service Application:
Nominees in this category are BREW applications that provide and/or are based on location-based services. They are applications that are designed to help users find/locate events, venues, products or services; or provide content or information that is position relevant. Making use of available positioning technology to improve accuracy and user experience, quality and quantity of choices and information about choices, usefulness of content, visual appeal, easily navigable, intuitive user interface and ease of use, originality and efficient map navigation are among the criteria that will be considered in judging the nominees.
This category is for you if your application helps people find locations, venues, services or products and/or provides content or information that is position relevant and/or helps them navigate a route.
Best Communications Application:
Nominees in this category are BREW applications designed to help end users communicate with each other, in their personal or professional lives. Ease of use, an easily navigable user interface, relevance/usefulness of content for personal or business use, originality and convergence (an application that could help or encourage end users to combine communication functions from multiple handheld devices into one), are among the criteria that will be considered in judging the nominees.
This is the category for you if your application is an email, messaging or image/photo-sharing product or service.
Best Information Application:
Nominees in this category are BREW applications created to deliver on-demand information, such as sports scores, weather updates, traffic reports or news. Timely content, compelling information, an easy to navigate user interface, use of advanced technology, and originality are among the criteria that will be considered in judging the nominees.
This category is for you if your application is designed to deliver timely content and information to end-users.
