BREW 2002: Make Your Mark in the Wireless Data World
The BREW 2002 Developers Conference will bring together professionals from every corner of the wireless industry including application developers, content providers, device manufacturers, network operators, technology experts and business analysts. This is your opportunity to exchange ideas and develop new relationships with leaders throughout the wireless industry. Qualcomm will kick off the two-day conference at a welcome reception Monday night from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Join attendees, sponsors and Qualcomm executives for food, drinks and fun at this ideal networking event.
Tuesday morning, Peggy Johnson, president and general manager, Qualcomm Internet Services will address and welcome attendees to the event. Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, group president, Qualcomm Wireless & Internet Group, will outline the latest and greatest benefits of the BREW platform, its presence in the market and what's in store for developers. Also on hand to address the delegates will be renowned industry pundit Stewart Alsop, who will explore the convergence between computing and telephony.
Pick the Track That's Right for You
The conference will include three tracks dedicated to the business and technical aspects of the BREW solution. The two technical tracks - a starter track and an advanced track - will provide insight to technical managers and programmers on developing applications using the BREW SDK® (software development kit) and designing for multiple devices. The BREW business track will outline the business model and revenue opportunities that Qualcomm's complete BREW solution creates for developers, manufacturers and operators around the world.
BREW Awards
The BREW Awards are a new addition to this year's conference. All applications that are TRUE BREW® tested and/or are commercially available on or before May 30 will automatically qualify for entry into the 2002 BREW Developer Awards recognition program. The awards ceremony will take place at BREWfest on Tuesday June 4.At BREWfest you can enjoy the best international cuisine, beers from around the world and plenty of specially brewed BREW ale. Live musical entertainment will be provided by Nine Days.

KDDI Ships BREW-Enabled Handsets
In March, KDDI, Japan's second largest operator, began offering handsets with applications developed on the BREW platform. Currently KDDI is offering BREW-enabled applications on Panasonic's C3003P handset. Among the BREW applications are NAVITIME's Map Viewer and K Laboratory's "Kyara Komyu."
