back to topMidwest Wireless Launches 11 Hosted BREW Operators in Less than One Year
Since announcing its first BREW hosting agreement with Rural Cellular Corporation in June 2004, Midwest Wireless has expanded its roster of hosted wireless operators to 11 in less than a year. Through its BREW-hosting model, Midwest Wireless is able to share its existing BREW service solution with other operators that want to offer advanced wireless data services to their own customers.
"We are pleased to be the first operator offering a hosted BREW services program and more important, that we are enabling other regional operators to provide value-added wireless data services to their subscribers," said Dennis Miller, president and chief executive officer for Midwest Wireless. "Thanks to the BREW solution, we can quickly launch these operators with an extensive line of BREW applications targeted to their customers' needs from ring-tones and games to weather radars to field force management services."
The company has been offering BREW services to its own customers since August 2003. The incorporation of the group capability within the BREW Delivery System enables Midwest Wireless and its hosted operators to differentiate their individual services. The group feature allows Midwest Wireless to offer a single standard catalog of applications and content to every hosted operator and then add additional specific content that is relevant to an individual operator. This same feature can be used to target special interest groups like teens or business professionals.
"With 11 hosted operators launched in less than one year, it is clear that Midwest Wireless' hosted model is a success," said Peggy Johnson, president for Qualcomm Internet Services. "We applaud their leadership and innovation and look forward to the continued success of their hosted BREW services program."
