Midwest Wireless helping Alaska Communication Systems bring Qualcomm's BREW® Solution to its customers

- Midwest Wireless Vice President to announce company's "BREW hosting" services at BREW 2004 Developers Conference presentation today at 12:50 pm -

San Diego, Ca. (June 8, 2004) Wireless providers Midwest Wireless and Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. ("ACS") are working together to bring sophisticated BREW services to Alaska customers. Today the two companies announced the agreement and commercial launch of Alaska's new BREW-based offering, which utilizes Midwest Wireless' new "BREW hosting" service. Midwest Wireless is able to share its existing BREW service solution with other providers who want to offer BREW services to their own customers.

Qualcomm's BREW system enables an extensive line of advanced entertainment applications and communication services that can be downloaded onto a compatible wireless phone.

Midwest Wireless, which has been offering BREW services to its own customers since August 2003, saw hosting as an opportunity to make full use of its BREW service solution. "By utilizing our existing BREW system to provide BREW applications to other providers, we're making the most of our investment and making this valuable service available to more individuals," said Tom Riley, Vice President of Market Operations for Midwest Wireless.

Sheldon Fisher, SVP Sales and Marketing for ACS, stated, "ACS is excited about the broad range of features and applications we are able to provide to our customers. With the launch of our new CDMA network and the implementation of WLNP, the capabilities of BREW are just one more reason for Alaskans to choose ACS."

"We congratulate Midwest Wireless and ACS for bringing the benefits of advanced wireless data services to ACS' subscribers through their launch of the BREW solution," said Bob Briggs, vice president of business relations and operations for Qualcomm Internet Services. "This sort of innovative collaboration speaks to the leadership of these companies as well as the flexibility and dynamic nature of the BREW solution, and its ability to support a wide range of operator needs."
